“During that war [War of the Revolution], three of the sons, Conrad (II), Johannes and George, served in the Tryon County Militia. Another son, Frederick (II) is thought possibly to have served in the same regiments. Jacob (II), another son, served as a Loyalist, or Tory, in Sir John Johnson’s 1st Battalion of the King’s Royal Yorkers and fought against his brothers.”419

Frederick was killed in the Indian and Tory raid in Minden on 2 Aug 1780.391
