Notes for Orra BROWNELL
"Mr. Orra Brownell died at his home in Northville, on Monday, March 30th, after a lingering Illness. He was born in Greenbush, Rensalear Co. Feb. 10, 1795, moved with his parents at the age of 8 years to Denton's Corners [N.Y.], where he lived till 18 years of age, when he moved with his people to Hope [N.Y.] where he lived till 1872, when he was married to his second wife, Mrs. Sarah Bowman, and moved to Northville." -obituary588

At the age of 8, Orra moved with his family to Denton’s Corners, New York.

1813:
He moved to Hope, New York at the age of 18.

He married "[Nancy Harris] by whom he had nine children, six of whom are still living [at the time of Orra's death]"588 E. E. Brownell lists 12 children.629

1825:
Orra Brownell is a resident of the Town of Hope, New York.631

1831:
Orra is a member of the Northville Methodist Church, Northville, NY in 1831.596

1840’s:
"A second tannery was started in Hope Falls area in the 1840's, when Orra Brownell acquired the mill lot in Road District 12. Under his careful had, the company began to expand beyond all expectations. As his sons became of age, Brownell began to take them into the business. 1853:
On 29 Oct 1853 Orra’s daughter, Martha, is married at her parents’ home in Hope, New York.630

1872:
Orra lived in the Town of Hope, New York until 1872 when he married his second wife, Mrs. Sarah Bowman, and moved to Northville, New York.588,630
