Samuel Hammond pays taxes in Beekmans Precinct, Dutchess Cnty, New York.686

1766:
Samuel “moved about 1766 to Washington, Dutchess Cnty New York, where he purchased 200 acres of land.”591,712

1769:
Samuel “took over the lease from John Oats on a 150 acre farm in lot 7 of the Beekman Patent in 1769. The rents were 16 ½ bushels of wheat and Hammond owed back rents of 132 bushels. He paid 40 bushels and gave a note for the other 92 bushels at 6s each or £29.18.”713

1770:
Hammond “took a new lease with 30 acres added and rents increased to 19 bushels.”713

Samuel Hammond pays taxes in Beekmans, Dutchess Cnty, New York during June 1770.686

“Samuel Hammond requested that he be taken under the care of the Oblong Meeting 21 June 1770 and he was admitted into the Meeting 16th 8th month 1770.” 713

1772:
“At the meeting held at Oblong 20th of 8th month 1772 he was one of several men who were appointed to take subscriptions towards building a stable and finishing the meeting House at Peach Pond.”713

1771-1779:
Samuel Hammond pays taxes in Washington Precinct, Dutchess Cnty, New York, as do Eliakim and Isaac Hammond.686

1774:
On 19 May 1774, Samuel obtains a removal certificate from the Oblong Friends Monthly Meeting, Duchess Cnty, New York to Nine Partners Monthly Meeting, Dutchess Cnty, New York.714

1775:
In 1775, Samuel Hammond pays taxes in Charlotte Precinct, Dutchess Cnty, New York.686

1776:
On 19 Jan 1776, Samuel Hammond pledges £3-S2-d7 for the printing of Friends books.715

Each April from 1776 to 1778, Samuel Hammond is appointed overseer of Road Segment 71 (“From Joseph Mabbetts to Beekmans precinct”), in Charlotte Precinct near the Beekman line.716

1779:
Samuel Hammond pays taxes in Pawlings Precinct, Dutchess Cnty, New York as of June 1779.686 His son, Eliakim is on the same list. Is this the same parcel?

1780:
In April 1780, Samuel Hammond is appointed overseer of Road Segment 71, in Charlotte Precinct near the Beekman line.717

On 19 May 1780, Samuel Hammond provides to the Nine Partners Monthly Meeting a receipt from Jonathan Hoag as proof he paid his subscription for the Creek meeting house.707

On 21 July 1780, Hammond and Joshua Haight report to the Nine Partners Montly Meeting that they visited a fellow friend “and he still desires friends to disown him.” 707

Hammond requests proof of his status as a member of the Nine Partners Meeting on 9 Sep 1980 in order to attend a quarterly meeting in Dartmouth, Massachusett.707

On 22 Dec 1780, Samuel Hammond provides to the Nine Partners Monthly Meeting a receipt from Trippe Mathers for his subscription pledge toward the Shapaqua meeting house for £1-S72.707

1781:
Samuel Hammond is a witness at the Friends wedding of James Sowle and Jemima Russill.718

1787 (probably):
Samuel Hammond pays taxes in Washington, Dutchess County, New York.719

1789:
On 1 Jan 1789, Samuel and Hannah Hammond of Washington, Dutchess Cnty, New York sell 213 acres of land, Lott 27, to Isaac Hammond. The land borders Job Taber and Abner White.720

1790:
Samuel Hammond and his family reside in Washington, Dutchess Cnty, New York.721

1793:
On 17 Apr 1793, “the friends appointed to labour with Samuel Hammond Jun on account of his misconduct report they have attended to the appointment & the complaints appeared to be true & did not discover any disposition in him for amendment under consideration thereon continues the committee to visit him again & report.”722

19 Jun 1793, “the friends continued to labour with Samuel Hammond Jun on account of his misconduct report that they have had an opportunity with him & there did not appear any disposition in him to make satisfaction under consideration thereon appoints Abishai Coffin & Brownell Wilbur to inform him that the meeting concluded to disown him. Also to draw an essay of denial against him and produce it at the next meeting.”722

On 17 Jul 1793, the Nine Partners Monthly Meeting disowns Samuel Hammond Jun.722

1797-1801:
The Last Will and Testament of Samuel Hammond of the Town of Washington in Dutchess County dated 22 Mar 1797 is proved 28 Oct 1801 by Gilbert Livingston, Surrogate of Dutchess County, New York. Executors are: Daniel And Benjamin Hammond, sons of Samuel and Hannah. Witnesses are: Joseph Huestis, Jonathan Tallman and Jedediah Tallman.723
