Geo. A. Buchanan was received “During Pastorate Rev. George C. Seibert” at the Calvary Reformed Church, Hagaman, NY on 27 Feb 1908 from the “M. E. Ch Salt Springville, N. Y.”

1938:
As of 25 Oct 1938, the Buchanans lived in Hagaman, New York.766

1955:
George Buchanan retired Jun 1955 after 55 years as an educator. He spent 44 years at Hagaman, New York, with 36 of those years spent as a principal in Hagaman.848,811 (See note below.) He received a telegram from President Eisenhower congratulating him on his teaching service.811
Hagaman Elementary School was named in George Buchanan’s honor on Sept. 6, 1955.811

Accounts vary as to length of George Buchanan’s teaching career. His obituary states that his teaching career was for 55 years, starting in Rhinecliff, NY and that he was a principal in Hagaman, NY for 44 years.811

Another account (“School Principal Honored at Hagaman Church Event”, Amsterdam Evening Recorder, Amsterdam, NY, 24 Jan 1955) states he was an educator at Hagaman for 44 years and a principal at Hagaman for 36 of those 44 years.811
