Evelyn Bogart was a teacher at Mayfield Central School, Mayfield, NY. Laurel Ann Reed had her as a fourth grade teacher at the “new” elementary school circa 1961/1962.2
Laurel recalls that Mrs. Bogart grew up in New England. Mrs. Bogart told her students a story about putting her foot up on the block used for splitting wood in the woodshed and daring her brother to use the axe. Her brother did. She did not move her foot! Laurel also recalls that Mrs. Bogart loved the artist Grandma Moses because her paintings were so much like Mrs. Bogart’s childhood memories.2
