John Holmes indentures William Spooner of Colchester, Essex Cnty (England or Massachusetts?) to John Coombs “of New Plymouth in America” for six years. Any remaining time owed to John Holmes is turned over to John Coombs.

On 7 Jun 1653, William Spooner “propounded to tke up his freedom” and is “sworn and admitted” a Freeman on 6 Jun 1654.
12961660:
William Spooner continues to reside in Plymouth until about 1660. He removes to a new settlement at Acushnet in the Dartmouth purchase, near “The Head of the River”. William also owned land on the West or New Bedford side of the Acushnet and on Sconticut Neck and at Nasquatucket.
1296“It is traditionally claimed, (and this claim seems to be well founded.) that William and his sons built the first mill within Dartmouth bounds, which was located in what is now Acushnet village.”
