Notes for Edison J. DIMICK
1901:
Edison was one of two guides, at the Tahawus Club east of Newcomb, New York in the Adirondack Mountains, escorting Vice President Theodore Roosevelt, his wife and two of their four children (along with others) on a hiking expedition up Mt. Marcy. On 13 Sep 1901, Dimick escorted Mrs Roosevelt, her children and the other women back to McNaughton Cottage at the Tahawus Club after a rainy night while the other guide, Noah, continued their hike up the mountain with Roosevelt. It was on the return trip down the mountain that Roosevelt received the news that President William McKinley was dying as a result of an assassination attempt earlier in the week at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, NY. 1303
