1890, 1891 or 1893:
Potap’s gravestone gave his birthdate as 24 Dec 1891. His Certificate of Death gives his birthdate as 22 Dec 1890.240 His petition for citizenship lists his birth date as 8 Dec 1893.234 His birthdate is listed here as 21 Dec 1891 as this is the date he, himself, gave to the Selective Service when registering for the Draft in 1942.239

1913:
Potap Grinkowich is Potajny Grinkewitz or Grinkevich who immigrated to the United States from Minsk (Rytzawitzy), Russia (now Belarus 2018) at age 22. Potajny Grinkewitz arrived on 5 or 6 May 1913 on the ship California. According to his petition for citizenship, his last foreign residence was Minsk, Russia and he emigrated from Libau, Russia. The ship’s manifest listed his port of departure as Glasgow. He was single. He was a farm laborer and his father was Efrim (Efim) Grinkewitz from Rytzawitzy g. Minsk.247,198,234,242 Potap lists his father’s name as also being Potap, which is not the father’s name listed on the ship’s manifest; the other information listed on the ship’s manifest for Potajny Grinkewitz (the year of arrival, the birth date and the locality of birth) all match.

1915:
On 31 Jan 1915, Potap Grinkevich and Ahafia (Agafia, Anna) Smolik were married at Nicholas Russian Cathedral, 15 East 97th Street in New York City (Manhattan).242,234 At the time of his marriage, Potap lived at 93 Henry Street, New York City, was 23 years old and was a laborer.242,237
The marriage was witnessed by A. Thutk(?)o and Nester Kandratina.237

1930:
As of 1930 Potap’s address was Manhattan, New York, NY. He was first married at the age of 22 and he was still an alien, but was in the process of filing his citizenship paperwork.198

1931
Potap Grinkewich filed his intention for United States citizenship on 21 January 1931 through the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, New York City, New York. At the time he lived at 221 E. 2nd St., New York City, New York and listed his occupation as a porter. He described himself as a white male with a fair complexion, brown eyes and brown hair. He weighed 175 lbs. and was 5’5 or 6” tall.234

On 20 Apr 1931, Potap’s wife Agafia (Anna) died.234

1932:
On 14 May 1932, Potap married again234. Mary is the name on the headstone238 and on Potap’s Selective Service Registration Card.239

1934:
On 23 Aug 1934, Potap swore his Oath of Allegiance to the United States and was granted citizenship.234

1942:
Potap’s residence is listed as 120 E. 1st St., New York, New York when he registered for the United States Selective Service Draft at the age of 51 on 25 Apr. 1942. He gives his date of birth as 21 Dec. 1891 and his place of employment as Arbuckle Bros., Jay St., Brooklyn, Kings Cty., New York. He is described as having brown eyes, white hair (slightly bald), a ruddy complexion, and a scar on his upper lip.239

1955:
Potap’s address at the time of his death is still 120 First Street. His death certificate states that he resided at this address for 40 years. He was a citizen of the United States at the time of his death. He died "on street" and the cause of his death is listed as "coronary due to arteriosclerosis" . He was pronounced dead at a hospital on 202 W. 52 St., New York, NY. According to his death certificate he died at age 64.240
