The headstone date for birth is 1903.220

Harry originally worked for a tannery, Geisler and Lehr (not sure of spelling), Johnstown, NY. He worked Friday nights in a bakery (Morris' (?), Johnstown, NY) to learn the trade.8
Harry worked full-time at some bakery as a night bread baker - not sure where.8
He also worked full-time at Wentworth's Bakery and Ralbovsky's Bakery, Middle St., Gloversville, NY (owned by brothers-in-law.)8

1930:
According to the 1930 Federal Census, the Harry Gifford family lived on Albany Bush Rd., Johnstown, NY. Harry, age 28, is listed as the head of the household and is a baker in a bakeshop. Anna, his wife, aged 31 is a naturalized citizen and is also listed as head of the household. Three children are listed: Anna Marie, daughter, age 11; Raymond, son, age 6; William, son, age 6.318

1930’s:
Recollections of Annamarie Gifford Reed about her childhood: Harry Gifford’s grandmother died while he and his family (including Annamarie) were on vacation at Caroga Lake, NY. The owner of the Caroga Lake camp where the family was staying drove the family to the train station.8 Daughter, Marlene recalled that her father kept bees when she was very little. She recalled a bee crawling out of his shirt sleeve at the dinner table!231

1940:
Harry died on “Sunday morning around 2 a.m.”210
