1923:
William was born “in the morning around 8 o’clock” at 7 Knox Ave., Johnstown, Fulton Cnty, New York. “Dr. Sommers”was the physician.210,227

1946-1988:
William and his brother, Raymond founded Fulton County Glassworks, Gloversville, New York in 1946 and ran this business for 42 years.253 They sold the busines and retired circa 1988.2

William (Raymond’s identical twin), age 27, lived two houses south of his mother, Anna Gifford, on Route 67, R. D. #1, Johnstown, New York with his wife, Virginia “Ginny”, age 28. Raymond was working with his twin brother in their co-owned glass business, while Ginny worked as a clerk at a carpet mill.2,232

Circa 1988:
“William and Virginia spent their retirement years in Mayfield, New York, Port Charlotte, Florida and Hendersonville, North Carolina. The last years were spent in Venice, Florida where they enjoyed golf, bowling and many nights of dancing with friends.”253

2015:
During April 2015, William and Ginny moved to Marion, Ohio to be closer to their son, Jim.2
Military notes for William E. GIFFORD
William served as a T/4 (Technician 4th Grade) in the United States Army during World War II.220 He was stationed in Manchester, England during World War II.253
