1875:
As of 12 June 1875, Cornelius (age 44) and Lucinda (age 43) Sprung owns and resides in a frame house in the Town of Caroga, Fulton Cnty, New York with their six children: Amsiah (age 16), Mary (age 13), Jay (age 10), Lilly (age 3), Anderson (age 1) and Pheobe (age 2 mths.). Cornelius is a farmer.412
1924:
Jay’s daughter, Gertrude, age 15, was killed by a bolt of lightning while helping her father get a load of hay to the barn. Jay, sustained a slight shock. The team of horses was also killed and Gertrude’s body was found lying on top of them. Jay was found on the top of the load of hay. The accident happened at 4 o’clock in the afternoon on 29 July 1924. The Jay Sprung family lived at Brookman’s Corners, Montgomery Cnty, New York at that time.413
