The beginning of the Northville Presbyterian Church dates back to August 26, 1849 when “thirteen people from the Presbyterian Churches of Fish House and Amsterdam, along with the Congregational Church of Edinburg presented letters of dismission and recommendation from those churches.” Barzilla and his son George Gilbert were two of the thirteen listed. Barzilla was one of the first elected elders and meetings were held in other area churches.1138
